'Serene Cuisine' Menu 27/11/15

Santa is Packing His Sleigh

With a little over one calendar month until Christmas, I can hear the conversation shifting as I've interacted with folks throughout this past week.

There are those super organised individuals among you who have your gifts not only purchased, but creatively wrapped and strategically placed under an amazingly decorated Christmas tree in an equally amazingly decorated house, and then there's another group of people like me, whose trees are still boxed and in storage and whose gift list is still being mentally planned out in their heads.
I feel that there are more of us in the second group though....right??

Being a foodie, I probably spend more time planning the menu than I do planning decorations and gifts, spending far too much time procrastinating over the menu, and because I also love to give home made food as gifts to those I love, an awful lot of time is taken up the week before Christmas both baking and creatively packaging the finished products.

Although I seem to 'dilly dally' right up until the last minute, I'm fully immersed in the Christmas spirit right now, and feel like a little girl as the excitement builds between now and when Santa arrives in just a few short weeks.

On The Menu This Week

This week on the Friday menu, I am introducing a new Quinoa dish in the form of a Carrot and Quinoa Salad, which also contains brown rice and sultanas, topped with an avocado, mustard and balsamic vinegar dressing.
A Sweet Potato and Chickpea Patty with Caramelised Onions accompanies the salad making it a deliciously nutritious and very filling meal.

For those of you looking for a thick and nourishing soup, Chickpea and Veggie Soup is also on the menu which is also this week's gluten free option. If you're anything like me, I love a bowl of hot soup at any time of the year especially with a hot bread roll to soak up the last of the goodness.

Chocolate makes a return this week with my Oreo topped Chocolate Muffins appearing on the dessert menu as well as the Banana and Walnut variety.
The choice is entirely yours.....
