Welcome Back To My Kitchen


Could it get any colder? Today's maximum temperature only just reached the double digits and I fear we may have a repeat of this for the next few days as Winter hits us hard here in the lower extremities of this beautiful country of ours.

Will I sound conceited if I confess to the fact that I love my own cooking? I hope not, but it's true!
I love cooking. I also love shopping for whatever ingredients I don't grow in my own garden and I love creating recipes around what I have grown, so as to maximise the organic component of the dish.


In The Test Kitchen


Today as I was driven inside by the plummeting temperatures, rain, and howling, icy winds, I spent some time creating a 'meatless' meatball using tofu and walnuts and although I was excited at the prospect of trying them, they totally superseded my expectations as far as flavour and texture were concerned. 
I may or may not have eaten more than my share!
I hope to share this dish with you soon in an upcoming Friday menu.

Soup Or Stew?

This week on the 'serene cuisine' menu, I am offering a thick and hearty soup that will be so thick, you will wonder if it isn't, in fact, a stew. 
I love nothing more in this cold and wintery weather than a chunky veggie soup full of flavour and heartiness and something bread like as a dipper to soak up every last drop of goodness.
As the dipper, I will have my Tomato and Rosemary Scones on the menu again.

Just Like Mum Used To Make


I have a confession to make. I have a soft spot for sweets. There, I said it!
This week I am making my all time favourite dessert for you all, Golden Syrup Dumplings. Yummo!!
You just can't beat those delicious balls of dough simmered in a golden sugary syrup, topped with dairy-free ice cream. 
Ok, Ok.....That's it.
I have to stop now otherwise I'm going to have to cook them for my tea tonight.
