A New Week In The Kitchen


At the risk of repeating myself, the days are getting colder, (but now even colder!) and my meals are reflecting this both here at just frank, and in my own personal recipe selections at home throughout the week. 
A lot of soups and casseroles have been consumed and tonight I will drag the slow cooker out from the back of the cupboard and place it in its permanent winter position on the kitchen bench. 
I'm sure many of you are familiar with the amazing benefits of creating meals in a slow cooker, or crock pot as they are otherwise known, but if you haven't yet experienced the benefits, do yourself a favour and invest in one. 
They aren't at all expensive and are a kitchen appliance well worth having. 
There's nothing quite like filling one up with your favourite winter veggies, legumes and seasonings first thing in the morning, and switching it on, only to return after work to a house infused with the glorious aroma of a home cooked meal, ready to serve. Yum!!


It Really Is Easy Being Green



This week, I have an abundance of beautiful Broccoli heads ready to harvest in my veggie patch. Full of amazing nutrients and as green as any green vegetable can be, I have created a beautiful Creamed Broccoli and Leek Soup recipe for the menu this week so as to share this beautiful greenness and goodness with you. 
The name of the soup may conjure up images of 'cream,' as in dairy cream, but as well aware, no meat eggs or dairy are used in any of my recipes, so 'cream' in this context, simply means creamy in texture.
While we are talking 'green,' this week's scones will have just a hint of green in them with the addition of Parsley and Chives, which add not only a beautiful visual appeal, but a fresh flavour to the common everyday scone.



You Can Never have Enough Chocolate




Dessert this week is a Crispy Wholemeal Chocolate Slice with Chocolate Icing and a sprinkling of chopped and toasted Walnuts, which are freshly shelled and locally grown. 
Full of flavour and high in fibre, this slice will satisfy your sweet tooth and is sure to be a hit with all you chocolate lovers out there.






Simplify, Simplify, Simplify 



This week's menu in case you haven't noticed, has been simplified, with only 3 items on the order form, namely the items that make up the lunch menu. 
Almost 3 months in, and I am reviewing the structure of the 'serene cuisine' ordering system and the frequency of menus. 
The 'frank's everyday menu' is absent from the order form this week but will reappear shortly in another form, as I review the best way to offer all of your favourite menu items in a more time efficient manner.
